Te Wā Toi
We have been working on our final pieces of aboriginal artwork. After researching some aboriginal stories, we came up with our own stories which we wanted to tell through art. We used dye to create our backgrounds. We are now starting to add the aboriginal symbols onto our backgrounds to tell our various stories!
Here are some photos of us creating our backgrounds. Check in soon to find out how we created our aboriginal symbols and to see our final works of art!

Wet the teacher!
Today in Team 4, the teachers put themselves on the line, dressed in an array of swimming accessories and prepared to get hit by a number of wet sponges. Little did the teachers know that they would also have the buckets of cold water tipped over them! This was all much to the amusement of the team 4 children!
Stay tuned for some of our awesome writing. In the meantime, see what we got up to in the photos below!

Term 3 PENN movie
The students in Ako 3 have been moving their bodies this term in Kiwi Sport while learning to play Squash. They have also been enjoying dancing and sharing some of their best dance moves! One of our new favourite songs to dance to is the Ghostbusters theme song! What is your favourite song to dance to?

Term 3 Inquiry: Move ya' body!
Welcome back! We are all set to begin another exciting term. This term, we will be asking ourselves what the ultimate goal of movement is. This will be covered through our term inquiry, Move ya body!
We will begin this term by looking at Te whare tapa wha, which is held up by four pillars. These pillars are taha wairua (spiritual well-being), taha whanau (social well-being), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional well-being) and taha tinana (physical well-being). From here, we will look at the difference between competitve vs cooperative actvities. To finish off, we will be creating our own competitive or cooperative activities to play in teams.
We will share our learning with you here throughout the term!

Matariki Celebration!
We had a school Matariki celebration! All of the classes were split up around the school and we had a day of tuakana teina, where the seniors and juniors all worked together! In Ako 3, the students did digital artwork with Miss West and Whaea Kelly. Each senior student paired up with a junior student and made a digital piece of artwork which expressed their thoughts about Matariki, the Māori New Year. After they had done that, Miss West took a photo of the pair. They then had to edit the photo to remove all of the background colour. Once this was done, the photo was inserted into the digital artwork to make these amazing creations! Well done to the awesome children who spent the day in Ako 3!
