Camp 2019

What a fun week we had at camp last week! For some of our year 5s, this was the first time they had been away from home! We stayed in tents on our school field for two nights:

The teachers all arrived before sunrise on Wednesday morning, to begin setting up the tents. This beautiful sunrise made the early morning well worth it! Don't we live in the most beautiful place?!

Mr Burt, along with a group of fantastic year 8s and whānau, took us kayaking down at the beach:

Mr Jacobsen taught us how to play cycloball:

We did so many fantastic activities and everyone participated and had a great three days! Keep an eye out for our movie which will show some more of the footage from camp.

Year 5 and 6 Camp 2018

Last week we had our annual Year 5 and 6 camp where we camped in tents on the school field. It was a great three days of camping, kayaking, swimming, competing, and working in teams! For many of the year 5s, it was a new experience sleeping in tents and being away from whānau for two nights.

We are all very thankful to our amazing parents and Pt England School whānau who took the time to help out in many ways - pitching tents, cooking, security, a trip to the Māngere pools, trips to the Glen Innes pools and many more 'behind-the-scenes' jobs which happened while we were busy with our camp activities.

Check out our blogs later on this week to see our writing about our experiences at camp!

The amazing Year 8 prefects helped out with teaching the Year 5s and 6s how to kayak.

Camp!

This week, we had our year 5 and 6 camp at school! A tent city was created on the school field. We took part in lots of activities such as kayaking, scootering/ skateboarding, swimming at the Glen Innes Pools and the Mangere Pools, Youthtown activities, and taking part in a camp concert on the second night.

Even though camp was during a storm, we managed to avoid the worst of the weather and take part in all of the activities which were organised. About an hour after we left on the Friday, it started to pour down for about three days straight!

Thank you to all the amazing people who made camp happen! To the team of people with Mrs Nua and Mrs Squires who set up all of our tents, to Mr Burt for taking us kayaking, to Mr Jacobsen and Mr Somerville, and to all the parents and teachers who took the time to help with food, the trips to the pools, and security. You are amazing!
